Cedar Point and rain... they just seem to go together. At least for me! Seriously, it did rain on my visit, though only for about an hour, just long enough to make a stop at the museum and a nearby gift shop where I spent some time chatting with a couple of employees. Raptor still rules the skies, with stunning front seat rides that are well worth the wait. And the Mantis is still one of the best stand-up coasters in the country. I got the chance to ride Magnum with no brakes this year... WOW! Talk about fast! Mean Streak on the other hand is in severe need of tuning up as it slows down so much on the turns that you might as well get out and walk. The Power Tower ride (2 drop rides and two reverse freefalls) is nice, but the reverse side is actually too tall. There's no extra kick at the top, giving you instead just a smooth floating sensation at the top. The drop columns really deliver though. They're just so incredibly tall! The dolphins were gone this year. One of them died over the winter and the other was sent to Florida (I think). I'm still wondering if this area of the park is in for an overhaul. Even so, there's plenty to do here, from the infamous collection of coasters, to kiddie rides, musical entertainment, boat rides, food, shops, and the wonderful laser light and fireworks show. So, be sure to put the Point on your list of places to get to.
