I had the opportunity of experiencing a "first" that is unlikely to happen again, especially not in the way it happpened. I was the very first guest in the park. There was only one security guard on duty at the time I arrived, which was a little earlier than I usually do, and the after effects of the pandemic are still being felt. So, an hour before the opening of the park, the security guard turned on the power to the gates, opened them up and let me in. In itself, not a big deal as I still had to go through the actual ticket gate. After waiting for approximately two minutes, they let me in. (There was still no one else in line at this point!) After waiting for Gatekeeper for a few minutes, I was informed that it would be down for awhile due to high winds, so I headed back to Magnum. Just in case you thought I had forgotten about the resort gates in my claim to being the first guest in the park, I had not. As I approached Magnum, it was clear that the resort gates had not yet been opened! I was first in line for Magnum. After two rides on Magnum and two more in Iron Dragon, I walked over to Rougarou, where I was also first in line! Mayfly season was in full swing, with millions of the short-lived insects everywhere. At least they weren't hovering in the air around the coasters like the midges were a few years ago! It soon became a much busier day, though not overly so, with wait times no more than an hour, but the wait times on several of the smaller rides were surprisingly long. It's disappointing that Top Thrill Dragster still isn;t running, but due to the accident, it may be closed for good. That means Cedar Point needs a new coaster, and this year would have been nice, but there's no hint of anything yet. We still need a haunted ride in the Frontier section, and we need to stop telling people which row to sit in, please! Kudos to the ride ops on Millenium Force, and to everyone who took their turn at sweeping up all of the mayflies! Cedar Point is still "a place like no other" - so be safe, but be sure to make plans to visit this amazing park! It's Cedar Point - America's Roller Coast - Ride on!
