Well, this was by far my shortest trip to Cedar Point ever. I knew my time was going to be cut a little short because I was including Canada's Wonderland in the weekend. That meant my maximum time for the park was going to be from open until 4pm.
The forecast was looking worse the closer the weekend drew. It was clear late Friday evening when I arrived, but by morning, it was pouring rain. No worries, the part wouldn't be open for another three hours. Except that it was still raining three hours later... and four hours later... I finally decided to go ahead and drive over to see if they were running the new Gatekeeper coaster in the rain. With no lightning, there was a chance.
Much to my surprise, not only were they running it, but as I stepped out of my truck, the rain became lighter and lighter until by the time I stepped into the line for Gatekeeper, it had stopped all together. It was now noon, as I had grabbed a sandwich before getting in line. Four hours later I was up on the loading platform.
Gatekeeper is a wonderful ride and a fantastic new addition to the park, especially with how it has revamped the entire entrance into the park.
I do hope that Cedar Point will add more coasters without removing any as they do have room. It just requires some creative planning.
While this was a very short trip, which was very disappointing, the ride on Gatekeeper was worth the wait and I look forward to next year's trip, where my schedule won't be so rushed and I get to spend the whole day!
