Cedar Point Trip 2011

Not every day starts off well... and this was one of those rare days for Cedar Point. It all started during that first hour of the day when the park is open to resort guests, before the gates open to the public. Millenium Force went halfway up the lift hill and then stopped. By the time it was running again, around twenty minutes later, other problems began to crop up around the park. The gondola wheel and Wicked Twister both stopped working. Disaster Transport was having mechanical difficulties and opened aronud an hour later than usual. Woodstock Express was having so much trouble that it was shut down for the rest of the day.
Despite all of these troubles, only Woodstock Express was down for more than an hour or so. Major kudos to the maintenance crews who spend so much time working to keep the rides running and in wonderful condition. Rough days happen, and sometimes problems come in groups, but Cedar Point keeps running and many guests probably didn't even know there was a problem. That's just the kind of place that Cedar Point is. Working their best to make sure everyone has a wonderful and fun-filled day!
As I did last year, I stayed at Hotel Breakers and went back to ride a few more coasters and the always fun Paddlewheel Excursions before I left late Sunday morning!
Special recognition this year goes to the ride ops of Top Thrill Dragster, who have so much fun running the tallest and fastest coaster in the park!
With an eye toward what rides might be added, most of my recommendations are the same. (I'm not giving up hope that they'll take up at least one of my suggestions someday...) It's definitely time for another new coaster, especially since Six Flags Magic Mountain has taken the record away again. I'm still hoping for a new kiddie coaster (maybe a wooden one) AND a spinning coaster, but breaking the 500 foot barrier would be a real achievement too. Whatever happens, I'll be making my plans to visit my favorite amusement park again next year!
What are you waiting for? Save your money and plan your trip to the best amusement park in the world! (Amusement Today Golden ticket award as best amusement theme park for thirteen years in a row!) How was your ride? You'll never know if you don't go! Cedar Point - it's America's Rockin' Roller Coast - Ride on!
