My second year of staying at Hotel Breakers proved to be yet another example of how much of a difference it makes in being able to experience more of the park.
A friend and I stayed in at the hotel and spent one of the most perfect weather days for being at an amusement park on Saturday. Just before those of us who stayed on resort properties were allowed to enter the park (an hour earlier than others), a few sprinkles of rain fell from the sky, but they quickly faded to a nice, cool, and moderately sunny day. Not too hot. Not too cold. Just a beautiful day to ride coasters at the amazing and wonderful Cedar Point! We also rode a few things on Sunday morning that we missed on Saturday, including the always humorous Paddlewheel Excursions!
The only new ride this year was Shoot the Rapids, and though I'm not particularly a fan of water rides, it was closed for repairs this particular weekend anyway. It does look impressive, so hopefully the repairs won't take long.
Special recognition this year goes to the ride ops of Maverick for making the wait in line fun, and the ride ops of Iron Dragon for doing an amazing job of keeping three trains running on a track where that's barely possible!
It's really time to get rid of the petting farm back in the western area and put in that haunted western ride! And though there's no word yet about a new coaster for next year, it's about time for another one to make an appearance. It's difficult to say for sure what they're thinking about doing. I'm hoping for a new kiddie coaster AND a spinning coaster, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. Maybe they'll actually try to break the 500 foot barrier. Whatever happens, I'll be making my plans to visit this amazing amusement park again next year!
