What a difference it makes if you can stay in one of the Cedar Point resort facilities! And if you can take more than a day to experience the park! My visit to Cedar Point this year was a much more relaxing experience, and I had the opportunity for the first time in a number of years to ride more than just the roller coasters.
My cousin and I stayed in Hotel Breakers, the magnificent old hotel right next to the park. The convenience of being able to walk to our room at the end of the day (or at any time for that matter) is amazing. And while the accomodations couldn't really be described as luxurious, the room was quite comfortable, the food in the restaurant was good, and the service was very pleasant. There's also the added benefit of being able to start riding an hour before those who aren't staying at Cedar Point Resort properties. I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity of you ever get the chance.
No new rides this year, but the Starlight Experience transforms an area near the back of the park into a wonderland of lights at the end of the day. Having two days to enjoy the park also meant I was once again able to enjoy the humorous ride on Paddlewheel Excursions, enjoy the view from the Space Spiral, take a ride on the old Demon Drop, and enjoy a couple of the musical shows as well.
Special recognition this year goes to the ride ops of Wicked Twister and Gemini for making the wait in line a fun experience.
OK, yes, I'm still waiting for my haunted western ride, but I won't give up hope. This park really needs a dark ride! And maybe a spinning coaster? Then again, it's about time for another world record breaking coaster at this amazing park. Whatever they decide to add next year, you can bet it will continue in the wonderful tradition of making this the best amusement park. (Amusement Today Golden ticket award as best amusement theme park for eleven years in a row!)
What are you waiting for? Save your money and plan your trip to the best amusement park in the world! How was your ride? You'll never know if you don't go! Cedar Point - it's America's Roller Coast!
